In conversazione

A group of Florentine goldsmiths and some students from the Le Arti Orafe jewellery school bring to life a small exhibition of goldsmith artefacts – some made independently, others in synergy.

The aim of the project is to promote the meeting and mutual understanding between worlds that, although belonging to the same tradition, almost always remain separate.
Artisans visited the school and met the students. Each student was “chosen” by an artisan and, in turn, each student indicated the artisan with whom he wanted to establish a dialogue. Working groups were thus formed that subsequently met in the artisans’ workshops to define the modalities of collaboration aimed at the exhibition.

People of different ages, backgrounds and experiences met, talked to each other, and appreciated each other. By accepting this small challenge, they had the opportunity to listen to each other, understanding the needs, abilities, and the potential of the other.
The conditions and prerequisites for a dialogue were created. These could continue and bear unexpected fruit in the future.
Traditional craftsmanship and contemporary research are not opposed – they are two aspects that are intimately connected and in continuous dialogue, and facilitating this exchange is also the task of trade associations such as CNA and schools such as LAO, which promoted the entire project.
